2025/2026 Zadok Priestly Calendar

YHWH’s Covenant Calendar

YHWH’s calendar is more than just an accounting of days, weeks, months, and years. It is a living and active representation of our covenant duties and responsibilities as believers. We recognize that the calendar can be a source of contention within the community, and it is not our intention to argue for or against the your calendar of choice.

We believe the Sabbaths, Feast Days, and all Appointed Times are meant to unite us in fellowship as a loving community of belivers in Messiah. This is our intention in producing this year’s calendar.

What’s New About This Year’s Zadok Priestly Calendar?

The 2025/2026 calendar was influenced by:

1. A new understanding of how the Spring equilux works in conjunction with the equinox in determining Day 1 of the year.
2. Recognizing that we have an Intercalary reset in 2025.
3. Gaining fresh insights from the Dead Sea Scrolls, Book of Jubilees, and 1 Enoch.

How We Got Here

Friends of the ministry  — Gina Sparks and Sara Davis  — have done exhaustive research into the synergistic relationship that Yah’s calendar has with the luminary cycles and the priestly courses established by King David. A deeper dive into the Dead Sea Scrolls uncovered how both equilux and equinox observations work in determining the start of the ecclesiastical year.

The biggest concern for congregations is when to add the Intercalary week to catch up with the sun’s 365.25 day yearly cycle. When 1Enoch 82 mentions ‘equal day and night’ the prevailing assumption is that this refers to the Equinox. On closer examination, we believe Equilux is meant.

Equilux simply means equal day (Sun) and night (Moon); the actual Spring 24 hour period we should be using as our starting point for the year. The Equilux usually occurs on March 16th or 17th, a few days before the equinox. It was also discovered that the priestly cycle mentioned in 1 Chronicles 24 has a Jubilee every 294 years (49×6). A new cycle began in 2019. So we are now in the 6th year of the new Jubilee cycle.

Why 2019 Matters

In 2019, the year began on March 20th, the 4th day of the week (Wednesday). On that day several things happened:

  • It was a full moon
  • The equinox occurred
  • The sun was in Pisces
  • It was the service week for the priest Gamul (#22)

On the 30th day of the moon’s monthly cycle another full moon occurred during the weekly priest service of Yedaiah (#2). Fast-forward to 2025, and the Equilux is on Monday March 16th with the Equinox occuring on Thursday Marth 20th. Gamul is the priest in service and on the 30th day of the moon cycle Yedaiah is the priest entering service under a full moon.

The GWDF Priestly Calendar shows an intercalary reset week starting the 1st year of this new 6 year priestly cycle on March 19, 2025. In 2025, the Equilux  occurs on Monday, March 16th and the Equinox happens Thursday, March 20th. Gamul is the priest in service, and on the 30th day of the moon cycle Yedaiah is the priest going into service under a full moon. Now you have a brief description of how we formulated the 2025/2026 Zadok Priestly Calendar.
